New Orleans Saints football is BACK after a painful but much-needed week off, and we couldn’t be more excited. What are we going to be watching for this week? Drew’s comfort level, the pass rush and a certain linebacker whose name rhymes with Wilma.
1. VILMA - Not only are the Saints back, but VILMA’S BACK. It’ll be interesting to see how much he plays and where he lines up. Lofton will obviously get most of the reps because Number 51’s only practiced three times and is pretty far from game fit. But since both are middle linebackers, what happens when both are on the field? Our bold prediction: at some point today we see a quasi-nickel package with Lofton, Vilma and Harper lined up as linebackers, with ABQ (Isa Abdul-Quddus, duh) at safety. All of this is important because, if you haven’t noticed, our run defense hasn’t been the best this year.
